Moore Theatre Rules

In accordance with Federal law, the Moore Theatre Seattle operates several venue policies. These are in place for your safety and security and that of others around you.

Attending the Moore Theatre in Seattle should be a positive, secure, and safe experience for everyone lucky enough to visit. To make this possible, the theater has some important rules and policies in place that you should be aware of ahead of your visit.

Bag policy

Like most modern theaters, the Moore asks guests not to bring large bags into the venue. You are permitted to bring one bag if it is no larger than 8” x 12” x 6”. All bags will be searched upon entry, and, in some cases, guests are also asked to empty their pockets or undergo a wand search.

If you need to bring a larger bag, you may be able to take it into the venue after a thorough search, but this may take longer, so try to arrive as early as you can to prevent you from missing any of the performance.

In some cases, a performer may ask that the theater enforces a ‘no bag policy’ which they will need to honor.

Food and drink

Guests are not allowed to bring outside food and drink into the Moore Theatre, unless it is for ADA reasons, such as disability, medical conditions, and additional needs. If you need to bring food or drink with you for any of these reasons, contact the venue beforehand to let them know.

Concessions can be purchased at the venue before performances and during intermissions. The types of concessions available will vary from show to show.

For most events, there will be a full-service bar available to those aged 21 and over. Take ID with you if you want to use the bar.

Electronic devices

The venue strictly prohibits photography and filming, and all cell phones must be silent and stored away for the duration of the performance.

Other useful information

Dress code

It can be difficult to decide what to wear to the theater, but a good rule of thumb is to dress as if you are going to a restaurant for a special occasion. Of course, this type of dress code can mean different things to different people. Some may prefer to wear a suit or dress, while others are more comfortable in smart jeans and a clean shirt.

The only rules that the venue enforces are that there should be no exposed underwear and no bikini tops or bottoms. Shirts, pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, and shoes should always be worn.

The Moore Theatre does not offer a coat-checking service.

Arriving at the Moore Theatre

If you arrive at the Moore Theatre before the venue opens, you should queue at the front door. The queue then heads northwest on 2nd Avenue, goes around the corner, and then northeast on Virginia. There will not be staff outside the venue, but patrons are allowed to line up for a performance from 6am on the day of the show.

Late arrivals

It is important to leave plenty of time for travel to the venue to avoid being late. However, if you do arrive after the performance has begun, you may not be able to take your seats until a suitable break. For example, during a scene change or an applause break.

For some performances, the venue may refuse to admit late arrivals, but this policy will usually be outlined in your booking information and on the venue website.

The venue asks that guests do not try to sit in any seats other than those assigned to them, even if they are empty. Sitting in unassigned seats can cause disruption. If you have difficulty locating your seats, a member of staff will be happy to help you.
