Stomp

Seattle, this is the beat you don’t want to miss!

The explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, utterly unique, invigorating, and unusual percussive ensemble that took the world by stomp, is back on the road and is coming to your neck of the woods! That’s right – the beats are coming to you: Stomp will be shaking things up at the Moore Theatre on 24 January 2025 with their all-new North American Tour!

It’s a high-energy percussive symphony breathing life into old household items and urban detritus, part drum-line part step team, a celebration of the every-day where everything and anything becomes music! Stomp is an unforgettable, pulse-pounding, electrifying experience for audiences of all ages that sees them coming back for more!

Tickets are priced to go from only $79 – a total steal – so hit that ‘get tickets’ button now, get yours, and come see what all the noise is about!

What do you get when matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo-lighters, hammer handles, inner tubes, wooden poles, and hubcaps meet an energetic eight-piece troupe, the most creative of minds and the beating heart of theatre?

An incredible percussive party that defies everything you thought you knew about music!

Radiator hoses, shopping carts, plastic bags, suitcases, and the kitchen sink become a symphony of percussive sound; even fingernails scratching against matchboxes and basketballs being passed back and forth with a ‘thud’ become a mind-blowing feast for the senses.

This unique combination of percussion, physical theatre, movement, acrobatics, visual spectacle, precision choreography, and comedy stemmed from the creative minds of Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas after they met as street performers and decided to take it to the next level. “We concentrated on the rhythmic elements,” NcNicholas said, “but I think we remained aware of the inherent absurdity of the concept of using everyday objects as instruments, so the humor was there from the start.”

Stomp premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1991, becoming The Guardian’s “Critic’s Choice” and winning the Daily Express’ Best of the Fringe Award. After 29 years of over 11,000 performances on Broadway, the New York production closed. Stomp, however, is still touring, bringing the beats to their massive international fan base. The international percussion sensation has garnered an armful of awards during the years, including an Oliver Award for Best Choreography in a West End Show, as well as an Obie Award and a Drama Desk Award for Most Unique Theatre Experience.

Stomp is a joyful, witty, wordless theatrical production with no traditional narrative, journeying through sound. Characters communicate wordlessly through dance and drum, each with a different and compelling personality – intense, ferocious, deadpan, and sarcastic. It’s awe-inspiring, exhilarating, engaging – a beautiful noise that promises to keep audiences captivated until the end.

The historic Moore Theatre is about to be turned upside down, inside out, with the one off-Broadway show everybody should see. The venue can host up to 1,800 patrons, spread across the main floor and the balcony. With its unobscured sightlines, magnificent acoustics, and maximum comfort, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

So, what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now and follow the rhythm down to the Moore Theatre for the most pumping night of your life!
