Famous for his roles in the late 90s and 2000s movies like “White Chicks,” “Little Man,” and “Scary Movies,” Marlon Wayans is a comedian everyone is familiar with. Unless you live under a rock and are not familiar with those aforementioned movies that made a mark in modern pop culture. Who would ever forget the funny portrayal of racial and gender stereotypes in “White Chicks?” How about the parodies and satirical scenes in the “Scary Movie” franchise? Or Maybe the Vanessa Carlton tune lip-synched by Terry Crews’ character in “White Chicks?” All these iconic scenes made Marlon Wayans one of the most memorable comedians to date.
However, most people know him as an actor rather than a stand-up comedian. In fact, one can argue that Wayan is an underrated stand-up comedian. As a comedian, he is a real livewire onstage, captivating audiences with his boundless enthusiasm. He frequently uses rapid-fire jokes and shifts gears between subjects in his delivery. As a result, some audience members are shocked about his way of delivering his jokes. “Not everyone would consider Wayans’ edgy and disruptive stand-up routine comedy,” wrote Alexandra Rothman of the Miami Hurricane. But despite all this indifference to his comedy, it cannot be denied that Marlon Wayans has the natural gift to make people laugh.
This year, Wayans is embarking on a comedy tour that will once again show his unique comedic style. In his recent interview, Wayans said that he will be having a comedy special to be released in 2024. In this highly-anticipated special, Wayans is expected to delve into his experience as a father of transgender kid. With the tentative title “Skittles” or “Rainbow Child,” the special aims to impart a strong sense of confidence not only to his child but to other kids who identify as transgender through his comedy.
His fans are yet to determine whether he will include this crucial topic in his 2024 tour. Regardless of what themes he will tackle, Wayan is sure to give his audience a memorable and laughter-filled experience. He will be at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, Washington, on February 16. If you are looking for a post-Valentine date with your loved ones, this is the best show to give smiles and laughter to you.
