Joseph -- the name connotes multi-colored, dreamy vocal harmonies from the sister act comprised of Natalie, and twin siblings Meegan and Allison Closner. Their group name was chosen to pay homage to their hometown in Oregon, and from their grandfather named Jo.
Natalie was initially pursuing a solo singing career, when she felt she needed a creative boost, Hence, she called on her sisters, until she found them to be the missing pieces of the puzzle. Having them around for vocal harmonies and songwriting felt like everything had fallen into place.
“It’s just second nature, like a fifth limb that’s already on you,” says first-born Natalie. “There’s an ability to anticipate what’s going to happen and blend with it. When Meegan and Allison sing, they know exactly what I’m going to do and when.”
Initially, they didn’t really get it. “We thought she was asking us to be background singers, so we didn’t take it that seriously,” says Allison. “It was more commitment than I was expecting—I even tried to leave at one point, but after a while, I was convinced.”
In 2014, they released their debut album "Native Dreamer Kin". They took this album's song performing in intimate house shows with simple instrumentation -- an acoustic guitar and a foot drum. Their three-part shimmering vocal harmonies were drawing in bigger crowds and attracting global listeners and fans.
As the trio commemorate the 10th year anniversary release of their debut album, fans will get to experience a live rendition of all the songs from "Native Dreamer Kin". Joseph will definitely delight their audiences too with their hits like "White Flag," as the breakthrough single that put them in the mainstream map, so to speak. This single was culled from their major label debut "I'm Alone, No You're Not," which debuted at number one and sat atop the Billboard's Heatseeker Charts for two weeks."White Flag" instantly gained chart position at Spotify's US Viral Top Ten.
Even after a decade, Joseph's music still feels like a breath of fresh air. Their pristine and flawless vocals combined with invigorating and inspiring story telling, and engaging rapport with their audience endears them all the more to their fans who keep coming back for more.
