Hailing from Santiago de Cuba, the vibrant capital of Cuba's southeastern Santiago de Cuba Province, Eliades Ochoa stands tall as one of the most renowned Cuban "soneros" of all time. Not only is he celebrated as a legendary singer in traditional Cuban music, but he is also known as the finest guitarist of his generation!! His timeless talent, coupled with his trademark rugged looks, cowboy hat, and boots, has earned him the endearing nickname of "The Cuban Johnny Cash."

Born in the 40s, Eliades Ochoa grew up alongside the Cuban folk movement. He began playing the guitar when he was just six years old, and in 1978, he was invited to join Cuarteto Patria, a traditional trova group founded in 1939, as its leader. His involvement with the Buena Vista Social Club has led him to international fame with numerous prestigious awards lining his trophy shelf! Eliades Ochoa won a Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Performance in 1997, but that’s not his first Grammy!! Eliades Ochoa has been nominated for a string of awards during his career. He’s even won as many as four Latin Grammy Awards with the legendary “Un Bolero Para Ti (Remasterizado)” smash hit.
Eliades Ochoa has been active in the music scene for over five decades, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down!! He’s continued to collaborate with industry legends and appear on numerous albums including El Madrileño in 2021. And now, he’s taking his incredible skills and new album to none other than the historic Moore Theatre.
