Corrido fans are going to flock to the Moore Theatre in Seattle on Saturday, 25th May 2024 to catch Edicion Especial. The group is one of the more popular regional Mexican bands of the last few years. They’ve been able to mix in love songs with the typical corridos about how they rose from the streets. The band originated in Culiacan, the mecca of norteño music in recent years. They’ve been able to rise through the ranks of a very competitive industry, in large part due to the fame they’ve picked up north of the border!
They’re bringing their Segunda Edicion tour to Seattle and actually opened up a second date on Sunday the 26th because they’re expecting a full house at the Moore Theater on Saturday. These guys go hard in their concerts, so there’s no guarantee that the show on the 26 will match the energy of the one on the 25th. Norteño music has something special that makes people sing along loudly and crowd the bars. That second part is not going to be a problem on Saturday, May 25th. The Moore Theater usually opens up a full-service bar area. That’s likely going to be the case for the Edicion Especial concerts that are taking place back to back.
The mix of the typical corridos, which are stories about daily life in Culiacan, and the love songs that Edicion Especial has put out make their concerts one of the best experiences in the genre. You can go from a very loud corrido that’s going to have people screaming at the top of their lungs to a slower song that could bring tears to their eyes. Chances are they’re going to be screaming those slow songs as well!
This Segunda Edicion Tour that the band is on has been a massive success thus far. They recently sold out their Valentine’s Day concert at the Peacock Theater in LA. That’s a venue that has a capacity for over 7,000 fans. The Moore Theater is a much smaller venue! It can only seat about 1,800 people. As mentioned, the tickets for the concert on May 25th are currently running dry! So much so that the band announced they’ll play at the venue again the next day. They’re already hanging up Sold Out signs for their concerts in San Diego and Vegas. Those take place until almost the middle of the summer!
It wasn’t a coincidence, though, that the band sold out on February 16th in LA. All of the folks who had bad experiences with their crush on Valentine’s Day showed up to sing “Si Es Posible.” This song is still the band’s top hit, and Spotify, it talks about a lost love. They may follow that song up with “Dejame Hacer Dinero” in the playlist they have set for Seattle on May 25th. If she left, the next best thing is to write a love song and make some money off it!
