Ravi Coltrane at Moore Theatre

Ravi Coltrane is the heir to a long lineage of jazz musicians. His father John, or Trane, Coltrane was one of the pioneers in jazz music through the 50s and 60s. When your dad is venerated as a literal saint by a church due to his contributions to music, you know you've got some major shoes to fill! It's been Ravi who's truly taken up the family mantle in the music business, turning into arguably the most influential saxophone player of the modern era. There's always an air of nostalgia in these shows, and that's mainly due to the fact that Ravi can tell stories about some of the songs that he's playing on stage that were written by his father. These small history lessons tend to pair perfectly with a jazz night.
