Hot off the press… Ani DiFranco is gonna bring some ‘Unprecedented Sh!t’ to her 2025 tour. The American-Canadian singer-songwriter has announced an extensive trek for next year in support of her latest opus, Unprecedented Sh!t. The first leg of the tour will kickstart on 16 January 2025 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, before wrapping up at Seattle's top venue, the Moore Theater, on 1 February.

Ani DiFranco issued Unprecedented Sh!t back in May, making it her 23rd album and first since Revolutionary Love landed in 2021. “Robust melodies, padded with streaks of soul and jazz,” the New Yorker cheered about her previous album. Unprecedented Sh!t was produced by the talented BJ Burton (Bon Ives, Low), and its title refers to both the new musical styles and sounds Ani DiFranco explores, as well as the current political and social climate. The album includes tracks about issues, such as reproductive rights (“Baby Roe”), the Covid-19 pandemic (“Virus”), as well as climate change (“Spinning Room”).

As well as dropping this absolute powerhouse of an album, Ani DiFranco has been super busy over the last few years. She’s even released a documentary about her life and career, called 1-800-ON-HER-OWN. The movie debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer (2024), and across September and October, it was screened in swing states in an effort to improve awareness about voting and reproductive freedom. Ani DiFranco will appear at a few of the screenings in both Michigan and Wisconsin for special Q&As with director visionary Dana Flor.

Who’s ready to catch her latest album, live, up close, and personal at the esteemed Moore Theatre? This will be your last chance to sing your heart out to Unprecedented Sh!t before the hotly awaited tour wraps up. “After the free-flowing eclecticism of her 2003 record Evolve, DiFranco settled into a comfortable, acoustic-folk groove. With the release of Unprecedented Sh!t, her 23rd album, she shakes things up again and presents 11 tracks that are marked by creative arrangements and some of her most impassioned lyrics,” praises No Depression.
