José Hernandez, the bandleader of the internationally recognized group Mariachi Sol de Mexico, grew up in Mexico amongst traditional folk music. Having grown up performing publicly at the age of three, José Hernandez is no stranger to the big stage!! In 1981, he established Mariachi Sol de Mexico and it’s still standing strong today! Filling loads of venues such as the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City and the renowned Hollywood Bowl alongside industry titans like José Feliciano, Bryan Adams, and Rocio Dúrcal, Mariachi Sol de Mexico have become the genre's most visible and talented performers.
Being a fifth-generation mariachi, José Hernandez spreads the joy of mariachi music to audiences in every corner of the globe. During his career, he has earned the well deserved reputation as a world-class collaborator through his work with legends such as Selena, Vicente Fernandez, Luis Miguel, Bryan Adams, and the Beach Boys - just to name a few! To date, José Hernandez has composed, arranged, and provided music for 15 Sol De México® albums. His talent knows no bounds!! He not only is a skilled vocalist but plays the trumpet, violin, guitarrón, and vihuela. WOW!
