Caleb Hearon brands himself as the only gay comedian, which seems to be quite a stretch, but in any case, he's bringing his So True show to the Pacific Northwest. He'll be hitting up the Moore Theater in Seattle on Saturday, March 22nd, after another stop in the area.
One of the ways that you could make his "only gay comedian" claim true is to say that he's the only one who actually came up through the comedy scene. Most of the other ones made it to stand up through social media. This fact about Caleb actually means you're in for a much deeper show. That can be a scary thought for some, but he's the real deal. It's not just a guy up there playing with the stereotypes of sexual preferences, which a lot of similar acts tend to do. It's hard to think about a comedian and actor who's been a part of massive productions and remains somewhat of an unknown. In fact, it is quite a stretch to say that Caleb Hearon is an unknown. He's someone that Drew Barrymore introduced as "(someone who) has been dubbed one of the funniest by the toughest comedy crowd of them all: the internet." In doing so, she provided a platform for him. When you've been on with Drew Barrymore and you were even chased by dinosaurs in the Jurassic World movie, you're not an enigma at all! As mentioned, Caleb Hearon cut his teeth doing comedy in clubs in Chicago. There must have been some tough nights there, no offense, but Chicago is not San Francisco.
All of these stops that Caleb has had along the way, including his stint on Crank Yankers, have helped form his act. There are a few things to keep in mind. We've established he's not an unknown, but he's not everywhere at this point. That means that there's a good chance that you haven't seen him live before. This helps build up some excitement. You never know when you're going to meet your new favorite performer. There's also less of a chance to find spoilers to this "So True!" show out there. It's truly shaping up to be one of those nights where you'll sit at the Moore Theater and say, "okay, surprise me!" If you come out with that attitude, Caleb Hearon is really going to deliver for you.
The Moore Theater is a perfect venue for stand-up comedy. Pretty much any seat in the house grants you a mostly unobstructed view of the stage. With a performer like Caleb Hearon, who does a lot of hand gestures and faces, that's always appreciated. You may not be so quick to pick a seat in the front row. It may be a better idea to look for a spot close to an exit to refill snacks and drinks quickly. Keep those tips in mind as you click the get tickets button and select your seats.
