When classical minds meet heavy metal, cellos turn into rock instruments. When heavy metal minds meet classical, a massive wall of sound is bound to shake the earth. When Apocalyptica takes the stage, metal becomes classical, and classical becomes metal; passion rules all, and a unique entity is brought to life.

Fact: Apocalyptica’s musicianship is second to none, and the opening notes of their concert alone are worth the dollar spent.

Apocalyptica first broke into the scene in 1996 with their debut album, “Plays Metallica By Four Cellos”, containing only eight Metallica covers, such as “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”, “Sad But True”, “Enter Sandman”, “Master Of Puppets”, and “The Unforgiven”. Initially they were a classical-style tribute band but soon adopted a neoclassical metal style, canning the use of electric guitars and bass – a total game changer for cross-over genres. Apocalyptica has also expanded their focus to covering the music of other bands, such as Faith No More, Sepultura, and Pantera. Their recordings also include collaborations with some metal greats, such as Till Lindemann of Rammstein, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Dave Lombardo of Slayer, and Joseph Duplantier of Gojira.

It has been 28 years since the release of “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos”, but their journey has been one filled with success. Apocalyptica released eight rapturously received albums, sold over 6 million albums worldwide, and tours relentlessly, playing to sold-out crowds across the globe. “Plays Metallica Vol. 2” picks up from where they last stopped. The album features new Metallica covers such as “The Unforgiven II” and “The Four Horsemen”, powerful and hair-raising collaborations with Metallica members such as a new recording of “One” with Metallica vocalist James Hetfield reciting the lyrics and bassist Robert Trujillo, and a cover of “The Call of Ktulu” featuring the original bass master track as recorded by Cliff Burton.
